the Celtic Reelers by Robert Crumb

Winter/Spring 2006 :
Welcome to my new web site, there is a lot of new stuff and I'll be adding to it every week this spring so don't hesitate to visit again. I just finished a highly successful tour of France/ Switzerland and Belgium with The Celtic Reelers, promoting our most recent cd The Drunken landlady and playing some of our best performances yet. You can see some of the photos in the photo gallery which we will be adding to as much as possible. And we are are putting together this summers tour so stay in touch for those dates and places.

R.Crumb handbook The R.Crumb handbook is out! For all R.Crumb fans and the uninitiated- 432 pages of his work, including an audio cd sampler which "contains selections recorded by various groups that R.Crumb has enjoyed playing with during his long, half-assed musical career". Discover never before heard recordings of the Ian McCamy quartette with R.Crumb on the mandolin. Secretly forgotten in a back drawer, lost under piles of music in my house, these where recorded many years back in a friends house and have been remastered for high mono fidelity. Even better it is free when you buy the book!

I had the great pleasure to recently present the avant premier of “Au Diable Merlin” at the Festival du Conte en Uzèges, a collaboration of music and storytelling with Breton story teller Sophie Joignant. After the warm reception throughout the winter's season of this performance we've gone on to record it and are currently preparing for it's release on CD (a.s.a.p.).

Another project I am happy to have taken part of recently is the debut EP album of Eilera, a very talented young singer and song writer who is able to mix many styles of music creating a strong roots/rock sound . We recorded in Helsinki and the album has been released by Spinefarm records.

In the meantime Angus Aird and myself are continuing playing together in our duo Whiskey for Breakfast - we have had the pleasure to recently create a concert on the history of Scottish music for the French national education system. The show is now officially in the coming years concert program for the public schools so we'll be bringing jigs & reels to the little ones.

If you would like to receive concert dates, ask questions or just send a hello please feel free to contact us.

Let it Reel!
